How do I prepare to build my store?

First, consider how much you'll sell. If you anticipate heavy traffic, a solution that offers lots of online storage space, inventory, and bandwidth is ideal. Next, to ensure the best ecommerce platform, decide on the level of customization you'd like. Consider must-have features such as payment security and sales reports. Also, be sure to provide enough payment and shipping options for your customers, and look closely at tools such as the ability to create discounts, loyalty programs, or gift-wrap options for your customers. Finally, make sure you have all your products and all their options (colors, sizes, other variations) along with pricing and shipping details, return and exchange policies, customer service requirements and procedures, ready before you begin.

An extensive question-and-answer page and customer support team can mean a lot to customers.
Well-designed menus, filters, and sorting options will minimize the amount of time it takes for someone to find and purchase a product.
It should be professionally-designed to be pleasing to the eye and provide a positive overall shopping experience. When customers enjoy shopping, they are more likely to buy.

What shopping cart systems are available?

A hybrid website has all the features built in (including product pictures, pricing, options, choices and quantity), and loaded into the website's database and logs. The customer's order is transmitted to an official payment processor company that verifies the credit card and then initiates a transfer of fees to your bank account. Once the order is confirmed (or declined) by the processor, your website generates emails to the customer and its database and website logs are modified accordingly. If the order was verified, a confirmation "thank you" email is sent to the customer and you, the owner/administrator. If the order is declined, an on-screen message will appear with a "declined" message.
A basic website will have pictures, pricing and quantity modules displayed along with "buy now" buttons which add the item(s) to a third party shopping cart to accumulate. A "checkout" button is used to request the third party shopping cart to finalize the order's shipping and handling charges, taxes, and any other required information; and to retain a database and logs. The third party shopping cart will handle all of the funds and email confirmations to the customer and seller accordingly (accepted or declined). You, as administrator, can access your order logs (and funds) by logging in to your account at the third party's website.

We recommend the first (hybrid) method since the only cost involved is a one-time charge for website development shopping cart setup and your payment processor fee per sale. There is no monthly accrual of shopping cart charges.

The second (basic) option requires a charge of $39 per month (or more) and payment of monthly administrative fees to the payment processor.
